Cleaning Staff

Purpose

Maintain a clean, welcoming home while respecting children's belongings, privacy and routines.

Reporting line

Registered Manager through the designated operational supervisor

Working arrangements

Rota arranged around children's routines and safe staffing; agreed weekends where required.

England; specific location and weekly hours confirmed before appointment. Maximum eight-hour shifts include one hour of paid uninterrupted break with competent cover.

Key responsibilities

• Follow room-specific cleaning plans and infection-control instructions.
• Store chemicals and equipment securely and use approved products correctly.
• Manage laundry and waste safely, including reporting sharps or contamination.
• Report maintenance defects, pests and slip hazards promptly.
• Respect private spaces and agreed arrangements for bedroom cleaning.
• Record completed tasks and hand over unfinished safety-critical work.
• Use protective equipment and avoid unsafe mixing of cleaning chemicals.
• Report any welfare concern through safeguarding procedures without investigating it personally.

Experience

Relevant cleaning experience or evidence of safe cleaning competence and willingness to complete induction.

Qualifications and registration

Training in safe cleaning, infection prevention, chemical handling and safeguarding appropriate to the role.

Essential capabilities

• Reliable hygiene practice and attention to detail.
• Respect for privacy and professional boundaries.
• Ability to follow instructions and report hazards clearly.
• Safe manual handling and willingness to ask for help.

Desirable experience

Experience cleaning care, healthcare or education settings.
